Studies have shown that toxic chemical releases to water bodies increased 26 percent in the last five years. The released chemicals are known to cause cancer. The results are based on the report ‘Taking Stock’, prepared by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC).The CEC is an environmental body established by North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
