This caused public uproar as consumers felt that books related to certain topics alone were marginalized.Drew Hardener, a spokesman for the online bookseller, denied that only certain topics were removed.He said that there was a cataloging error as a result of which the problem occurred.

By Monday, the controversy had grown into an uproar.However, Amazon maintained a studied calm and issued a detailed statement only on Monday. By Monday evening, some of the titles were available as before.
